Brother Wifi Printer Setup For Windows. connect your Brother printer to a wireless network, you need to follow some steps in advance. Before starting the network settings for your printer, make sure the Brother printer driver is installed prior to the computers that will use the printer. For driver installation can only be done by using a USB cable beforehand.

I. Linking Computers that are connected to the network using an access point / router. (Infrastructure Mode)

Installation methods
There are four ways to install the Wireless Brother printer to an existing wireless network. Choose one that you think is an easy way and in accordance with your wireless network infrastructure.

 

II. Wireless configuration temporarily using a USB cable

  • Turn on your computer
  • Run the installer program Brother
  1. Insert the installation CD, supplied with every purchase Brother products on your CD-ROM drive. The installation program will open by itself. Choose model / type your printer and the language you want to use.
    Note: If the installation program Brother does not open by itself after you insert the installation CD, select start.exe in the Brother folder in the installation CD.
  2. Initial installation main menu select Installation.
  3. Click Install MFL-Pro Suite. Follow the instructions on the installation screen.
  4. Choose Wireless Network Connection, and click Next.
  5. Choose Change the Firewall port settings to enable network connection and continue with the installation. (Recommended) and click Next.
  6. Choose Use your computer or the control panel directly. And click Next.
  7. Choose Temporarily use a USB cable (Recommended) and click Next.
  8. Follow the instructions shown on the screen to configure the wireless settings, and install drivers and software. Note: When the Available Wireless Networks option appears, if the access point is set not to broadcast the SSID then you can add it manually by clicking the Advanced button. Follow the instructions contained on the screen to enter the Name (SSID).

 

III. Wireless configuration temporarily using an Ethernet cable.

  • Turn on your computer
  • Run the installer program Brother
  1. Insert the installation CD, supplied with every purchase Brother products on your CD-ROM drive. The installation program will open by itself. Choose model / type your printer and the language you want to use.
    Note: If the installation program Brother does not open by itself after you insert the installation CD, select start.exe in the Brother folder in the installation CD.
  2. Installation main menu choose Advanced or Initial Installation.
  3. Select Wireless LAN Setup Wizard.
  4. Select Use your Computer or the control panel directly, and click Next.
  5. Choose Temporarily use an Ethernet (LAN) cable and click Next.
  6. When the Important Notice screen appears, read the warning, tick after ensuring the wireless setting is on and click Next.
  7. Follow the next steps as shown on the screen.

 

IV. Configuration of a button using Wi-Fi Protected Setup or AOSS
You can use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) or AOSS directly from the printer’s control panel menu Brother when a WLAN access point / router supports either WPS or AOSS.

 

  • Press Menu.
  • Press ▲ or ▼ to find and select the Network menu.
  • Press ▲ or ▼ to browse and select menu WPS / AOSS.
  • When Enable WLAN? Appears on the screen, press OK to accept.
  • Wireless setup wizard will run.
  • To cancel, press Stop / Exit.
  • When the screen on the control panel shows Start WPS or AOSS, press the WPS or AOSS button on the access point / router. Then press OK and your printer will detect the mode (WPS or AOSS) by the access point / router and will try to connect to your wireless network.
  • Results of the connection will appear on your control panel display for 60 seconds and a wireless LAN report will automatically be printed. If the connection fails, check the error code contained in printed reports.

By using the Control Panel Wizard that is on the menu in the printer, you can easily configure your wireless connection.

 

  • Press Menu.
  • Press ▲ or ▼ to find and select the Network menu.
    Press ▲ or ▼ to browse and select menu Setup Wizard.
  • When Enable WLAN? Appears on the screen, press OK to accept.
  • Wireless setup wizard will run.
  • To cancel, press Stop / Exit.
  • The printer will start searching for wireless networks around and will display a list of available SSIDs.
  • If multiple SSID appears on the screen, use the ▲ or ▼ to choose your network SSID. Then press OK.
  • If the wireless access point / router that you choose printer supports WPS and you ask to use WPS, press 1 for Yes to connect your printer using WPS. (If you select 2 for No then you will go to the settings manually by entering a Network Key) .When the display shows Start WPS, press the WPS button located on the access point / router, then press 1 for Next to continue.
  • Enter Network Key / Password Wifi access point / router, if you are not using WPS.
  • Press OK, then press 1 for Yes to accept your settings.
  • Your printer will try to connect to your wireless network.
  • Connection message will appear for 60 seconds on your control panel display, and the message will be automatically printed wireless LAN. If the connection fails, check the error code contained in printed reports.

 

V. The computer connects to the wireless connection without a WLAN access point / router (Ad-hoc mode)

This network type is not centered. Each machine with a wireless connection to communicate directly with each other. Currently Brother printer to be part of the Ad-hoc network, this Brother printer will receive all orders print directly from a computer that sends the data to be printed.

  • Before configuring your Brother printer, we recommend to take down your wireless network settings. You will need information about the SSID (Network Name); Communication Mode (Ad-hoc); Encryption Mode (WEP / None); Network Key (Password Wi-Fi).
  • Enter the SSID name. Press OK.
  • Use ▲ or ▼, select Ad-hoc when prompted. Press OK.
  • Select the type of encryption between WEP or None using ▲ or ▼, and press OK.
  • When selecting WEP, enter your network key, and then press OK.
  • When selecting None will immediately be asked to confirm the setting.
  • Press 1 for Yes or 2 for No to confirm the setting.
  • Your printer will try to connect to your wireless network.
  • Connection message will appear for 60 seconds on your control panel display, and the message will be automatically printed wireless LAN. If the connection fails, check the error code contained in printed reports.
